Race horse names are heavily regulated by the jockey club. Have to make sure it passes their requirements as well.

How about just plain Elmer?

There was one inspired by a painting but that name's been used on a horse. (The painting was named for my voice teacher.)
For a filly/mare: Serena's Big Break
For a colt/horse: Edisto (there's a horse that ran in one of the Grand Slam races -- Derby, Preakness, Belmont, Classic -- named Congaree for a similar reason)
