Hi Everyone. I posted about 4 months ago, when I started with some trouble with a bladder infection. The infection went away, but the feeling of a full bladder stayed - and is still around after all this time. I have seem my doctor, a gyny, and a urologist. I finally asked to have my hormone levels checked and it turns out I am in full menopause (47 year old - FSH levels sky high). So my doctor put me on estrogen suppositories, which I have only used for 4 days now. Has anyone else dealt with issues of low estrogen and increased urinary tract infections or just the symptoms of such? Have you had success with estrogen supplements? I would appreciate it if anyone could let me know. Thanks and God Bless. Mary

Hi Mary and welcome to the forums! Well for the past year, I have had 3 bladder infections and I am just 18 yrs old. One time it was really bad, like the worst infection that a person can have on a bladder infection lol. The last one I had was a couple of weeks ago and the infection went away, but it still feels like I have the symptoms (feel like I have a full bladder sometimes and only some of the urine comes out) I asked my doctor why it keeps on happening to me and she said that my body needs more water than the average person. So for me, it will keep on happening if I don't have 8 glasses of water a day. I have never taken any estrogen supplements .... the doctor just gave me some antibiotics for the infection. Well that's my experience with my urinary issues. Don't feel alone in this God bless!!!

Thanks so much. I do feel better when I drink more water and the bladder is more full. Things are a bit better lately. Thanks for helping me feel less alone in this. God Bless you! Mary

Eight glasses of water is the minimum that we should be aiming to drink each day. Most people would be better off for drinking more water.

Thanks all. I saw my doctor this week and it looks like my estrogen level was the key to my trouble. My FSH was at 105 - with 20 being normal (FSH levels rise when the estrogen drops). I have been on Vagifem Estrogen Suppositories for 5 weeks now and I have seen a big difference. I hate that it has taken 5 months to figure this all out, but I am at least glad I have an answer now! I thought I would post just in case there is anyone else out there with this kind of trouble and is searching for answers like I was. It isn't common to have UTI type symptoms with low estrogen, but it isn't unheard-of either. On the Vagifem website it even states that it will help those symptoms. In the meantime I have been drinking a lot more water, given up coffee and alcohol, and have been eating a lot better foods - I guess that there have been some positives about it after all! Mary
