Good Morning and Happy New Year, Denizens!

MC and I had such a fun time last night! At least I assume he had a fun time, there were about 8 boys his age there and, although I didn't see them from the time we got there, there was an awful lot of boy noise going on.

Good Morning Lioness and Denziens. So this is what the new 2010 Den looks like.... hmm, looks like a nice cozy home! Time to have a cup of coffee and settle in

Good Morning, Gma! Coffee....yep, that sounds about right.

At this time we should take bets on how many days/weeks/months it will take me to start writing '2010' on checks and documents and such.

It usually takes me about 3 to 4 weeks with intermittent slips throughout the year!

This is me, too. I usually have it down by October.

Our checks are electronic, too.

However, as an admin assistant I do frequently have to type out the date. Or change the newsletter to reflect the current month and not the previous one.

LOL!

Last year, I found myself writing 1987 a couple of times! I have no idea why.

Happy New Year, EJ!

I've written some crazy dates on things in the past. Well, they were real dates just not the current one.

When I was accepting applications for employment many moons ago, when it was still okay for an employer to know how old a person was, I was looking through them and came upon one from a lady whose birth year was listed as 1915. I took note of the name wondering in my head what the story was behind a 72yr old woman seeking employment with me.

A few days later a lady came in asking if I'd started hiring yet. There was something about her that I just liked and I asked her name so that I'd be able to find her application when I was ready to do interviews. When I went looking for her application, lo and behold, it was the 72 yr old lady. Only there was no way the woman I'd seen was 72. So I called her and asked her how old she was. She, of course, thought I was nuts. But when I told her what her application said, we both cracked up. What could I do but hire her? She's been with me for over 22 years now and is a dear friend. I later figured out that what I 'just liked' about her was the Holy Spirit pointing me to Himself in her.

This was in 1987 and your post reminded me of it.

I have the Traditional Pork and Sauerkraut in the crockpot (btw, THESE are truly wonderful ) and have the rest of the pork loin in the freezer. I'll be eating alone tonight but that's no reason not to eat well!

Oh! I kept forgetting to tell y'all this...

When MC was little, like 2 or 3, he used to drag a chair over to where I'd have the creche set up and rearrange all the figures. It took some effort to get over my OCD tendencies and leave things the way *he* wanted them. (Having kids is a marvelous cure for minor OCD symptoms ) When he got a little older I just let him set them up. This, as you may well imagine, did not sit well with GC and just as soon as he had them the way he wanted them, she'd put them in the arrangement that she wanted. It was a Christmas tradition. The last 2 or 3 years MC hasn't been interested in decorating at all. It may have something to do with his sister being The Decorations Dictator. Or maybe not. Anyway, I put the creche up this year because that's the only thing I care whether it gets put out or not. A couple days ago GC points to it and says "look what *he* did!". Sure enough, all the figures were turned in with their "backs" to us, looking at Baby Jesus, instead of sort of facing out the way I'd had them.

Why, yes, as a matter of fact he is going to be 14 yrs old this month.

Happy New New Denizens

We spent last night as part of a watchnight service. It was at a church near by. In years past Pam would be singing at a church miles away from home, so they would not get back until 4 or 5 in the morning. So Pam and her brother told her father, who does the bookings, to book something near by. We got home a little after 1.

(From the 09 thread)

Sam, I know that frou-frou will not be a part of my life from now on. We had our guest room furniture delivered and the room looks great. It has a classic English look to it. She bought the bedroom suite to match an antique English wardrobe she has.

The loaded potato is very common in the South. If fact I had never heard of the term until I moved down here.

What a cool connection! Now I know why I've been writing 1987 . . . so I could tell you and so you could, in turn, tell me this wonderful story!

1987 was a good year for music. And my favorite songs of the 80's.

So do I; I think she's absolutely gorgeous! And, I've already told her so in Zooneyland . . . but, hey, she's still gorgeous over her in the Den, so I might as well tell her again!

Lioness, enjoy your New Year's Day meal; sounds yummy!

You are really so kind.

I don't want to cook today. We have a ham, and I could fix it, but I am just so uninterested in cooking/working/cleaning today.

I think instead we will have nachos, or meat and cheese plates. Something easy that everyone can make together.
