I fell asleep a couple of hours and woke up in the future! Happy New Year, all!

It usually takes me about 3 to 4 weeks with intermittent slips throughout the year!

Happy New Year, EJ! I've written some crazy dates on things in the past. Well, they were real dates just not the current one. When I was accepting applications for employment many moons ago, when it was still okay for an employer to know how old a person was, I was looking through them and came upon one from a lady whose birth year was listed as 1915. I took note of the name wondering in my head what the story was behind a 72yr old woman seeking employment with me. A few days later a lady came in asking if I'd started hiring yet. There was something about her that I just liked and I asked her name so that I'd be able to find her application when I was ready to do interviews. When I went looking for her application, lo and behold, it was the 72 yr old lady. Only there was no way the woman I'd seen was 72. So I called her and asked her how old she was. She, of course, thought I was nuts. But when I told her what her application said, we both cracked up. What could I do but hire her? She's been with me for over 22 years now and is a dear friend. I later figured out that what I 'just liked' about her was the Holy Spirit pointing me to Himself in her. This was in 1987 and your post reminded me of it.

I have the Traditional Pork and Sauerkraut in the crockpot (btw, THESE are truly wonderful ) and have the rest of the pork loin in the freezer. I'll be eating alone tonight but that's no reason not to eat well! Oh! I kept forgetting to tell y'all this... When MC was little, like 2 or 3, he used to drag a chair over to where I'd have the creche set up and rearrange all the figures. It took some effort to get over my OCD tendencies and leave things the way *he* wanted them. (Having kids is a marvelous cure for minor OCD symptoms ) When he got a little older I just let him set them up. This, as you may well imagine, did not sit well with GC and just as soon as he had them the way he wanted them, she'd put them in the arrangement that she wanted. It was a Christmas tradition. The last 2 or 3 years MC hasn't been interested in decorating at all. It may have something to do with his sister being The Decorations Dictator. Or maybe not. Anyway, I put the creche up this year because that's the only thing I care whether it gets put out or not. A couple days ago GC points to it and says "look what *he* did!". Sure enough, all the figures were turned in with their "backs" to us, looking at Baby Jesus, instead of sort of facing out the way I'd had them. Why, yes, as a matter of fact he is going to be 14 yrs old this month.

Now I know why I've been writing 1987 . . . so I could tell you and so you could, in turn, tell me this wonderful story!

1987 was a good year for music. And my favorite songs of the 80's.

ORIGINAL: CoeurdeLeon Love the pic, Cranky! So do I; I think she's absolutely gorgeous! And, I've already told her so in Zooneyland . . . but, hey, she's still gorgeous over her in the Den, so I might as well tell her again! Lioness, enjoy your New Year's Day meal; sounds yummy! You are really so kind. I don't want to cook today. We have a ham, and I could fix it, but I am just so uninterested in cooking/working/cleaning today. I think instead we will have nachos, or meat and cheese plates. Something easy that everyone can make together.
