I was at a physical therapists office a while back and a local avon rep had placed 2 or 3 current books in the office waiting area. I thought that was a great idea. Since I was stuck waiting while my hubby was getting therapy I enjoyed browsing the book. I didn't order anything at the time because I was broke. So, I suggest you put a couple of books in office waiting rooms.

Hi y'all :)

I fixed the link...it was missing one letter

It sounds like you're doing ok, Renee :) This weekend I get to venture into the world of tossing brochures! Woo hoo! We'll see what happens with that.

Here's a funny story...I joined an Avon representative Yahoo group and found some great resources, one of them being an intro letter that I'm including with the brochure when I toss it. I also modified that letter to post an ad on the local Craigslist General for sale section. I reposted the ad last night, and after doing that I did a search on 'Avon' in that section to see what else was posted. Guess what? There's another Avon rep that just began posting, and she stole my ad! LOL! She modified it, but it's definitely my ad I don't mind, I got it from that group, and it was for anyone, but it just tickled my funny bone. She also took my idea for a Black Friday sale and copied it almost word for word.

I one upped her this time, though...I used some great graphics to dress it up for the holiday

I do have a Facebook page...just started it about a month ago :) Just do a search for my (married) name :)

Laura, thanks for the tip about brochures :) I'll have to begin doing that as well.

oh wow. It might not be so bad if it wasn't the local List.

Hi Renee! Long time no see. Sorry I haven't been able to email you. Hotmail is playing around with the page it puts up. It's totally useless at the moment. I can't see my contacts. I can tell it that I want to send an email, but there's no slider bars on the side or bottom, so I can't see to type an email.

Kimmy, that cobbler recipe sounds really nice. You have a PM waiting for you too.

Maybe you'd do better if you handed the books and brochures to people instead of throwing them. Just a lil hint from yer ole Uncle Bill.

Kimmy, I clicked your website link and just got a general Avon page.

That's all I got too.

Hey Renee!
Me too.

Plus, I have a question. On that page were several links to company that are not specifically Avon. Has there been some type of a merger between cosmetic companies?

I posted my other post above before I had read that you modified the link. I'll go check it out.

It's not bothering me that this person copied my ad. I got it from an email list where it's available for anyone's use, and competition is to be expected. I'm just surprised there's not more on Craigslist! I was more amused at how little she changed the ad! Silly Avon lady

I'll check my PMs after this message, Trish :) Let me know how you like the cobbler recipe if you try it. It was quite a hit for me :)

Bill, Bill, Bill...don't you know that's the way to get customers? You throw stuff at them, knock them out, whisper subliminal messages in their ear, lay a brochure on their chest, and when they wake up they think this was all their idea, and that Avon is the way to go! :D

I went to the incorrect link and can see why it was so confusing. I also thought that photo was of some very messy eyeshadow. I'd never let mine get like that!

If you guys do happen to want to order from my Avon site, I can give you a code for free shipping.

I'm home! I'm so glad it's the weekend!!!

We're awake early today. We got out of the house about 530am and tossed 120 Avon books. It took about an hour, not too bad. Andrew helped, which was nice. He told me that when he was behind one of the houses where there's a very small apartment complex that a black kitten quietly followed him from porch to porch, sniffing each brochure after he dropped it. Very cute!

Back to bed for me...I need at least 2 hours more sleep!

I wish I had time to toss books. But, between work, and classes, I just don't. I had a pretty good order this time though. I did hit one snag this weekend, I had two customers who could not pay me, totally almost $250!! part of it, I will have to return, because it isn't stuff that I sell much of. I am hoping it doesn't knock me out of the running for Presidents Club!

now that stinks, Renee. Good thing that you can return them :)

Making time for getting brochures ready to toss isn't always easy. I put alot of work into the C25 brochures and will do some of that for C26, but afterwards will only do that once or twice a quarter.

I'm just hoping to build a decent customer base. I'm not at a place where I want to try to make the President's Club or build a downline.

I heard this song on the radio today and found a video on Youtube. Enjoy!

On the other hand, this song chokes me up every time I hear it and the video made me cry...I've always felt such sorrow for Britney Spears, and Bebo captures what I feel. Here's an article where he talks about why he wrote this song.

I remember running across a 'Christian' blog where the blogger was talking about Britney and one of the readers commented "Who cares?". I was so angry that I posted a comment saying "God does!!!"

God has such love and compassion for her, and I find it hard to believe how cruel and judgmental Christians can be. I don't expect compassion from the world, but I do expect it from those who call themselves believers and followers of Christ. We're supposed to be different, and I believe that means not mocking and ridiculing those in pain, saved or unsaved.

I'd better go check the cornbread that's baking in the oven

Being out of the loop with popular culture, I've known nothing about Britney Spears except to recognize the name. Thank you for sharing that article. Good for Bebo Norman! We need more Christians like him.

You're welcome, Maggie and Shar-Mar. We do need many more like Bebo!

Laura, I keep meaning to tell you that the scripture in your signature is the theme from our women's retreat last year. Except for the last line

It's nice to read it again :)

I had to leave that last part on because so many people come into these forums asking for biblical advice but then don't like the answers they get.

I saw Bebo in concert with MercyMe in October, and he talked about writing that song. Very touching. And he's right. I have always felt like that, whenever I saw her on the news. But, having a daughter with emotional issues, I can see where she is coming from.

I do feel sorry for the way she is so harassed and badgered, and watched. That would make it so much harder to get help and lower stress levels. But at the same time, I'm huge on people taking personal responsibility for their actions, and she has made some very poor choices that I don't think can be blamed on others. A lot of what has happened in her life are consequences of her own actions. Sadly, it drags her children along for the ride.

Still, it's good to see someone in the Christian spotlight lift her up in prayer and restate her need for God. That's what she needs more than anything... certainly not more criticism and badgering.

I agree that what's happened to her are consequences of her decisions, but I don't see how she had a chance to learn to make healthy decisions. What teen could handle all of that and come out reasonably normal?

Anyway, I'm just glad people are praying for her.

I could use some prayer. My temp assignment is ending soon, and I have a feeling this may be my last week, or even shorter. A change was made today that facilitates easing my position away and back to the people who should be doing it. It's good, the company is doing what needs to be done, I totally understand, but I'm a little stressed right now about not working for too long.

Prayer that a new assignment starts very soon after this one ends would be greatly appreciated.

Laura, too true about the last part of that verse! I always say don't ask the question if you think you're not going to like the answer :P

Now it's off to the residence center where I get to visit with sweet old ladies and offer them the chance to buy Avon if they so desire :)

You're right about that. She was given way too much freedom and, well everything, at way too young of an age.

Awwwwww. I hope it goes great, for you Kimmy! Praying about the job situation for you, too.

Avon selling went well this campaign :) I'm hoping to do well this next week with a raffle to win a gift basket with over $100 worth of items. People have to purchase to enter.

I heard about this story on the Mike Gallagher and Hugh Hewitt shows. This is a link to the video. What an amazing young woman!
