Howdy Ron! If I could have grown up at another time in history? I think I would have picked the 70's, because that was a really interesting time for radio and I think I could have dug it back then. What do I like where I live now? I am outside of the city and it is quiet. I do like that there is a subway and bus system and that there is plenty of things to do here as well.

ORIGINAL: bride48 I've been reading Sharon Marie's thread. Very interesting. So, it inspires me to ask, what would you do if a complete stranger of the opposite sex started sharing intimate things with you on a bus? In the particular instances that I shared over in my PFY thread, my first responses were a startled embarrassment; and I immediately prayed to Our Lord as to what, if anything, I should say and also what I should do or not do. So, I hope that the first thing I would do anytime something like this happens would be to pray . . . for Our Lord's Wisdom and Guidance. From there, I hope I would proceed in the manner that Our Lord's Holy Spirit would direct me - for that specific time and that specific person. I don't think there is a cookie-cutter answer for this question. For instance, let's take the 2nd man that I mentioned over in my thread (simply because I don't remember the details of what the 1st man said and I don't want to have to wade through my thread to find it) . . . What the 2nd man specifically said to me was, "I haven't been with a woman since '91." There was no reason for him to say this to me; in fact, if I remember correctly, it was the very first thing he said to me. I would never dream of saying something like this to a total stranger. Frankly, I can't imagine my talking about such personal issues with that many people that I know; it just isn't part of who I am. But this man had no qualms about telling me what he did. After I overcame the embarrassment I was feeling, I listen to him. Because THAT was exactly what I felt Our Lord's Holy Spirit prompting me to do. He rambled all over the place with his conversation; the very vast majority of which had nothing to do with his sex life. What I found was a very lonely, broken man. How are we to reach the lost and the broken if we automatically apply cookie-cutters "solutions" to situations? I will ask anyone reading this post who feels led, to pray for not only this man but also the other man that I had made mention of in my thread a couple of weeks ago. Please pray that Our Lord will send someone into their lives to show them the REAL Love of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Regarding a different situation . . . last December I was coming home, via Greyhound Bus lines. It was a a very long day that day. Somewhere along the journey, the bus pulled into a bus station for a 3-hour layover. This bus station was literally out in the middle of nowhere. I was sitting at a table and a man walked over and grabbed a chair, while simultaneously asking, "Do you mind if I sit here?" The man literally gave me the creeps. My skin was literally crawling. He didn't say anything inappropriate but there was something about him that my spirit didn't like one bit; and I went with that and trusted that. I told the man, "Yes, I do mind." He was very startled at my answer (and frankly, so was I). He then said, "Did you just tell me I couldn't sit down here?" I assured him that that was exactly what I just said and further told him that if he wanted the table, then he could have it, but that I would get up and leave because I was not going to sit at the same table as him. My point in all of this . . . no situation with any human being should be treated formulaically. We should always pray for Our Lord's Wisdom and Guidance in any situation; and we should always listen to what Our Lord's Holy Spirit is telling us about someone. The man from December . . . I hadn't prayed specifically about him, but I had prayed for safety at the beginning of the trip. I'm quite very sure that the physical reaction I was experiencing was directly from Our Lord's Holy Spirit. And now, I'm going to answer the rest of the questions.

Sharon Marie, I'm so glad you responded to the bus question. And your point about praying and looking to the Holy Spirit for guidance is really important. Thanks for bringing balance to the conversation. The Lord's been doing something really wonderful in my life, and I just have to share! Most of you know that I've been really struggling to form friendships in my church, despite all my efforts to reach out to women via email. Well...since I've joined Facebook, that's been changing. Yesterday, tons of people talked to us...and I mean good conversations! And not just with Facebook people! Then last night the Praise Group leader and his wife made us a wonderful pork roast dinner and spent nearly three hours visiting with us! I'm really encouraged! How has the Lord encouraged you lately?

ORIGINAL: bride48 How has the Lord encouraged you lately? During the past week that I've been back in Jackson, I have been recognized (and in some instances, even remembered by name) by people that I really only had 1 or 2 interactions with when I lived in Jackson before. Everything from coffee shop patrons to store employees. These are not people who I had a lot of interaction with, or even had known for any great length of time before moving; most of the ones I'm remembering while writing this post were people I had met right before moving last year. It's been like a week-long "Welcome Home" party; and from some very unexpected sources. VERY encouraging, indeed.

That's wonderful, Sharon Marie. Houdini typed out one of my favorite recipes today, and she's making them for tomorrow night's supper (they're low-oxylate, so I can have them). Sorry I can't invite other people to post recipes here, but this has to be a low-oxylate thread. Broccoli Stuffed Baked Potatoes 2 large russet potatoes, washed 3 tablespoons butter 1 cup broccoli crowns 1 medium onion, finely chopped, sauteed 1/2 cup sour cream 1/4 cup heavy cream paprika 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1 cup sargento 6 cheese italian blend salt, pepper Preheat oven to 380 degrees. Puncture potatoes with fork on each side. Wrap each in white paper towel. Put in microwave and cook for 8-10 mins. Take potatoes out of microwave and paper towel and place in oven for 15 mins. Take out of oven and slice each potato in half down the center. Scoop out potatoes and put into a bowl. Add onions, sour cream, heavy cream, salt and pepper. Mash potatoes til smooth. fold in 3/4 cup of each cheese. Place potatoes in mini loaf pans (foil). Start layering the potato mixture with the broccoli crowns til potatoes are full, ending with the broccoli crowns. Top with the remaining cheeses. Bake for 15 mins til browned.

Well, Houdini brought the potatoes over this morning. She made four, so she put three in the freezer and kept one down for tonight. I'm looking forward to it! I've been playing with Paint Shop Pro lately, after neglecting it for a few months. It's good to get back into it. Sadly, there are fewer online tutorials for my version than there used to be. A few years ago, Correl bought the rights to the program from Jasc, so their website no longer supports version 8 tutorials. Many websites, disheartened by Correl's upgrades, have taken their tutorials offline. Yesterday, I needed a tutorial for what should be a very basic procedure. I found one tutorial...for version 7, and very poorly written! I figured the procedure out myself. Anyway, most of you probably haven't much interest in Paint Shop Pro, and you don't know how to comment on this post. So I'll ask, what hobbies or interests do you have that you have difficulty explaining to people?

Sharon Marie, yes...I did the cross and the background yesterday. I'd already done the daisy and the frame, so I just threw them on. It came out okay, I think. Well, at least it was good practice. You can see a bigger version on my blog.

I agree, Sharon-Marie. It can be a little difficult explaining the forums to someone that doesn't take part.
