I don't think I could live there, but English Victorian interests me. So does the American pioneering times, like the Little House On The Prairie. Wouldn't like having to use an outhouse though.

What do I like about where I live? It's a city, but it's not huge and it's really laid back. There's about a million people here but it's spread out. I couldn't handle living in Melbourne or Sydney. Way too big and busy for my liking.

Hobbies that are hard to explain to others? None. They're pretty straight forward.

Nothing much to say today, gang. I wish I did have something interesting to post. Oh, I will say the potatoes came out wonderfully!

I just typed out my testimony for a friend. I'll post it here soon, but I need to edit certain parts to protect a family member before I put it online. So, knowing that I'll share my testimony soon, my question today is: How did you come to Christ?

I was pretty little, around 4. I remember an older man from church leading a group session for children for VBS. He talked about accepting Jesus as our Savior and I did right then and there. I surely didn't understand everything, but I know that's when I became a Christian.

Hi Mike.

We went to Quincy Market yesterday, so I've been blogging today. So no time to edit my testimony. Maybe that's okay. Sue's the only person who posted hers, so maybe people aren't interested.

I'm tired, so I think I'll quit trying to post in here for now.

Maybe I'll post it a bit later, it's somewhat complicated, and there are parts I don't discuss in public. But it's not that I'm not interested.

I just don't have much of a testimony - I honestly don't remember a time in my life that I didn't believe in and love God. My life has been more a journey of my walk since I can't recall a time before my walk. Hope that makes sense.

It's not that I'm not interested, DebbieLynne . . . it's just that particular question is more than a bit complicated in regards to my answer.

Hi Deb, John, everybody.

Deb, it's not that I'm not interested. I just haven't made it into here until now. I won't tell it right now as it's my bed time and I need a bit of time to tell it. I will come back in here though and share it.

I was raised in a very liberal church in a suburb of San Francisco. Jesus' death always fascinated me, though I never could get a very clear explaination of its significance. The adults in my life said He died to save the world, but that's all they were able to tell me. I figured He was something like Superman.

In Jr. High Youth Group, the leaders sort of equated Jesus with John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.--a social martyr. It was the late 60's by then, and I was getting into astrology, yoga, and stuff like that. Several people in the church fiddled around with occult and paranormal stuff too, so I shrugged off any thoughts that such activities might be incompatable with Christianity. Anyway, I thought Jesus just fit in to everything else, so I flirted with it all. Thankfully, I was a pretty shallow person, so nothing went very deep into me.

And my biggest "thing" was being boy-crazy. Like I said, I was shallow. Maybe I thought a boyfriend would offset my disability...who knows? I do know that my main attraction to the occult had more to do with finding a boyfriend than anything else, as did my church attendance and sporatic Bible reading.

In the fall of 1970, when I turned 17, I met a guy that excited my hormones. I called it love, as most teenaged girls would. He was 19 or 20, in the Navy, and headed for Vietnam. Of course he had no interest in me, other than friendship. But I wasn't very realistic in my thought-patterns back then.

I thought maybe if I could get him to get me pregnant, he'd have to marry me. (Remember, it was only 1970...most guys still married girls they impregnated back then.) But I knew sex before marriage was wrong, and, frankly, I had no idea how to go about getting him to take me to bed anyway! I tried asking Mom what to do with my sexual feelings, but she just said nice girls didn't talk about such things.

About that time, I met some "Jesus People" in my Creative Writing classes at school. They didn't witness to me directly, but they let me hang out with them and they inspired me to read my Bible. One girl in particular befriended me, and we'd talk about the guys we had feelings for. By January, the guy she wanted had turned to Christ. I considered myself a Christian, so I was excited.

But a week before his conversion, I was struggling with my feelings for the guy in the Navy, who by then had shipped out to Vietnam. I still had fantasies about him, so I decided to weigh my feelings against 1 Corinthians 13. When I read, "Love does not seek its own," I was hit between the eyes with the realization that I had not lived up to God's standards...that I was going to hell!

For the next two weeks, I agonized. Of course, I couldn't tell anyone about my sexual lust or my plan to trap the guy into marriage, but I did try telling my pastor that I thought I was going to hell. He just laughed and said, "No you're not--you're a good little girl!" So during that horrible two weeks, I tried to persuade myself that God would, in the end, take everyone to heaven.

One day (okay, January 20, 1971), I was sitting with my Christian girlfriend when a third girl joined us. (My friend had been witnessing to her.) A little smugly, she announced that a minister had just been a guest speaker in her psychology class, and he had said belief in Jesus wasn't necessary for salvation. My friend said, "If that's true, Jesus died in vain." Then she quoted John 3:16.

To this day, I don't know how I connected the dots, but I knew that Jesus had died in my place. And that I owed Him very my life. I just said to him, in my head, "Okay." But that was the beginning of my relationship with Him. And He's certainly done a lot with me in the almost 38 years (has it really been that long?) since that day!

Okay, that's my beginning. Maybe in future posts I can tell you some of the ways the Lord has worked with me, but today my migraine meds aren't working as well as I'd like. Anyway, do you think this testimony would make a good blog entry?

Well, DebbieLynne, if my opinion counts for anything, I'd think that the testimony you just shared would make a good entry in your blog. I look forward to reading it there.

I'll share my testimony here soon. But I think I'll have to get to it on my next visit here. Hopefully that will be soon, maybe even tomorow.

I think your testimony would make a terrific blog entry.

Sorry your migraine meds aren't getting the job done.

Thankfullly, I feel much better today, and even looked at a tutorial for creating a background for my blog! Not sure when I'll try it, but at some point I will. Of course, first I'll need to do the artwork. But sense the blog showcases my art, the background really should be my own work, huh?

I did not see on the website where one could purchase prints, but they may be available somewhere.
