It's a program called Paint Shop Pro. I've had it for almost three years, and I'm having loads of fun drawing with it. There are many online tutorials, and I've learned a lot using them. I also experiment a lot, and I've come up with some neat things just by fiddling around. My blog will showcase my art...keep visiting!

I need to bump my own thread. How is everyone? What's new with all of you?
Hot and humid in New England. When we got home from church, we noticed the sprinkler on (we live in an apartment complex), so I zoomed over and drove my wheelchair through it a few times. Ahhh...felt good! Hubby watched, but didn't go through the sprinkler himself. (He's so boring.) I felt better--he didn't. I'm sure he needs me to spice up his life!

It's cooler today (ie - not in the 100's) but pretty windy. Not good since today is the finals for the annual hydroplane races here. Hopefully no one is hurt.

I'm meeting my new neurologist today. I get migraines, and my insurance will only pay for the meds if a neurologist prescribes them. My last neurologist got a more prestegious position, which he really did deserve. I'm just sorry to have lost him, since he was such an advocate for me when dealing with my insurance carrier! I hope this new doctor will be just as supportive! With medication, I can manage the migraines very well. But since it's so had to get, sometimes I skip it and let a migraine happen. Not fun for me, my husband, or our attendents.

What do you use for them, if I might ask? I suffer too, and it seems the only thing that works is Imatrex, but insurance doesn't cover the full cost so I'm out a pretty penny or two when I re-fill the prescription.

I use Zomig, which is similar to Imatrex.
The appointment went well. I'll stay with Zomig as long as Medicare and MassHealth covers it. Also, we'll increase my Baclofen, which I take to reduce my muscle tone (Cerebral Palsy makes me spastic). Hopefully, increasing the dosage will help me drive my power wheelchair a little more easily. He suggested Botox injections in place of the Baclofen, but I'm not at all open to that idea.
Both John and I think he's more thorough than my last neurologist, so we're pleased.
The ride home on para-transit was nearly two hours because they added on a passenger that lived way out in I-don't-know where. That was rough on John, but we did drive past the house where Abigail Adams was born. I've always wanted to see that. Sadly, we got home too late for John to have his breathing therapy. Maybe he can have extra therapy tomorrow.

Glad to hear your appointment went well. One reason I don't want to move is that I have great doctors and don't want to have to "start from scratch" in a new town. There's nothing like having a great doctor who will be an advocate for you!

I haven't had Zomig, and I thought I'd tried all the triptans there were. And it comes in a nasal spray! Thanks DebbieLynn.

Marsha, John and I both receive Social Security from our dads (as Dependent Children). If either of us had married someone who didn't receive that specific form of Social Security, we would have lost Medicare too. I almost married a man who was on his own Social Security Disability (he drove himself into a tree, and ended up in a wheelchair from a Traumatic Brian Injury). If I'd married him, my Medicare would have been taken.
I didn't marry him because he falsely claimed to be a Christian.
Anyway, John purposefully looked for a woman who received Social Security as a Dependent Child because he knew that was the only way he could retain his Social Security and Medicare. Since Medicare pays for his respritory equipment, he didn't dare date anyone who wasn't also on this specific type of Social Security. We believe that's the reason God didn't heal me back in 1972, when I was actively pursuing healing. John is exactly the man I always wanted, and the Lord knew all about Social Security regulations. I'm so amazed at how He orchastrated even our Disability Benefits so that we could be man and wife!

I never knew that, not that it would have mattered. I believe I'm the answer to some converted birth mother's prayer out there. Don was adopted, had a very bad relationship with his adopted father. God just alwAys seemed to have Don under His wing, so to speak.
How do you and John work out the problems of living in the same space? After Don became disabled, either his wheelchair was in my way or mine was in his.

Hmm...we're rarely in each other's way. I recharge my chair in the living room; he recharges his in the bedroom. Guess I'm not really sure what you're asking, Marsha. Could you explain better?

Humm,...maybe we just require more space. When he took his wheelchair into the bedroom, it blocked my closet. If he were sitting at the kitchen table having a snack, I wouldn't be able to get around him to get to the cupboard or sink. If parked my wheelchair a couple inches this way or that, he couldn't get around it. We have too many things, more than likeely.

Since John is his dad's dependent, I assume he wasn't ever able to work. I know you like doing art on the computer. How does he fill his time?

Oh, those pesky speech defects! I have one also, and it's a nuisance. I never had too much of a problem with it until a moved to the Boston area. People here, as a general rule, are too impatient to take the time and effort to listen. Really, I'm not that difficult to understand.
Hey--is anybody besides Marsha still reading this thread? If anyone wants to introduce another topic, feel free. This doesn't have to always be about disability.
When I lived in California, a crazy guy at my church used to tell visitors to the church that he and I were lovers in Paris in 1953. (Note: that's the year I was born.) He's and artist, and got a job in Connecticut three weeks before I moved to the Boston area to marry John.
About a month ago, I read that Boston's Museum of Fine Arts is hosting an Americans In Paris exhibition, so I immediately emailed him and said he, John and I really had to see this one together! So he's driving up tomorrow evening, will go to church with us Sunday, and Monday we'll take the subway to the museum. I seldom see anyone from my past, so I'm really looking forward to it. Also, Whistler's Mother is featured in the exhibit, but only in Boston--I'm really excited about seeing that!
