From what I have been reading on various internet sites, it appears that Disney has finally green-lit a Tron sequel. I think right now it is scheduled for a 2011 release. I think Jeff Bridges is even going to reprise his role as Flynn. If done right, I think this could be a really good film.

It's funny you posted about this now. I just saw Tron for the first time today. Well, not all of it. My daughter kicked me off the tube.
It was...interesting. The visuals weren't as retro bad as I would have guessed for an early 80s sci fi. I could have watched it all.

For those interested, here is a description of the footage of the movie that was shown at Comic-con:
A blue figure – obviously on the run – is being tracked down by a yellow figure on a cycle. The blue figure dives forward with a bar in hand. Around the bar – and figure – a super sleek blue lightcycle forms and the chase in on.

Bruce Boxleitner will be reprising his role as Tron.
This site discusses this plus has other information about the movie. It also includes some dialogue from Jeff Bridges regarding the movie. This site also has the test footage for the movie.

i bought the 20th anniversary edition when it came out in 2001... havent watched it in a few years though... 30 years later.... the sequel. heh.

Indeed it does. I'm probably one of the few people in their mid-20's who thinks Tron is fantastic...extremely excited about this.

I must be one of the few people who thought Tron was one of the worst movies ever. I'll leave watching the sequel to others...

I agree that the first "Tron" was rather slow and plodding story-wise, which is why I'm hoping this sequel will not make the same mistakes.
Still, "Legacy" looks incredible, and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I just saw the trailer to the Tron sequal, Tron Legacy. This looks like it could be a very good movie. I especially like how Flynn's old arcade is involved in this.
